Mark, Now that businesses are forced to scrutinize all costs with utmost care, maybe will see more focus on these issues within the business community and across the media. The main obstacle right now is the massive amount of attention being given to the economic slide itself. Instead of talking about how bad things are, I wish we'd hear more about solutions and improvements.

Solid waste, production byproducts, scrap, emissions, pollutants, whatever you wish to call them are all COSTS to a business. Wringing those costs out are beneficial environmentally AND economically. It's too bad we don't see this fact (the successes that have resulted) more frequently reported by the press or promoted by businesses.
